Another case of anterior open bite treated with minivis
Patient 18 years old. He has already received partial treatment at another clinic at the age of 14.
He presents for treatment of an anterior open bite.
Examination reveals a vertical excess of maxilla and lower anterior facial height.
The panogram shows flattening of the anterosuperior surface of the consyles and an osteophyte near the neck of the right condyle.
The patient does not want orthognathic surgery.
We propose treatment with anchorage minivis at both arches.
The virtual treatment plan demonstrates the dentoskeletal movements required to correct the anterior gap.
The minivis are installed at the 20th week of treatment. These are your Tomas Pin EP and SD from Dentaurum.
Progressive photos show that the gap is closed after 27 weeks of intrusion with minivis. Maxillary intrusion was completed after 35 weeks (55 weeks of tx).
Superimposed tracings show 4.5 mm upper and 0.5 mm lower molar intrusion, resulting in a 4.7 mm reduction in facial height and 4° closure of the mandibular plane.
The last two photos show the evolution after 63 weeks of treatment, including 43 weeks of intrusion with minivis.
The improvement in the smile is noticeable.
