Top 16 reviewers of 2012 of AJODO
When I completed my Master degree in Dental Sciences from 2003 to 2008, I was far from suspecting that I would become a “reviewer” of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJODO).
Thank you to Dr. Christian Caron for his course “Critical Reading and interpreting the results of the literature in health science.” A 3-credit course done in less than 2 months. A “crash course”.
Revise a scientific paper and determine whether the article is good for publishing is a big responsibility. We have to read the articlewith attention, judging the literature review, the research hypothesis and research design, see if the results are consistent, if the statistical analysis is appropriate. The quality of an article is dependent on the quality of the discussion where the author discusses the results and compares them with other similar research.
I admit I was surprised when I received an email from Dr. Vincent Kokich, editor-in chief, telling me that I was among the top 16 reviewers of the year 2012 of the AJODO. And I was even more surprised that I was the only “reviewers” in private practice among a group of academics.
Finally, many of my Saturday morning reading these articles have not been in vain …
