However, the In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> C and QuicKlear\u00ae<\/sup> clear ceramic brackets are available for our patients who request them.

1- Active self-ligating systems<\/h3>\n

The majority of companies who provide conventional orthodontic appliances have developed self-ligating systems. Several versions were put on the market, but not all have had the commercial success of the SPEED\u2122 brackets.<\/p>\n

Thus, here is a non-exhaustive list of modern self-ligating brackets<\/strong> currently available.<\/p>\n

\u2022In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> R and In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> C<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022Empower\u2122<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022BioQuick\u00ae<\/sup> and QuicKlear\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022Nexus\u2122<\/strong> and Nexus Clear\u2122<\/strong><\/p>\n

You will notice, by their appearance, that they look like the SPEED\u2122 bracket<\/strong>, because they all have a clip with a little opening at the front<\/strong>. This says it all on the ingenuity of the SPEED\u2122 brackets invented by the Canadian Dr G. Herbert Hanson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Dentsply GAC In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> R and In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> C<\/p><\/div>\n

We can say that the majority of active self-ligating systems are a more or less successful copy of the SPEED\u2122 brackets. Another similarity to note is the one with the twin bracket-like conventional systems (the four tie wings).<\/p>\n

The disadvantage of such similarity with the twin bracket is that it is difficult, not to say impossible, to miniaturize the bracket. All other self-ligating systems are thus necessarily bigger and larger than the SPEED\u2122 system.<\/p>\n

Here are 2 smiles of patients wearing In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> C<\/strong> clear brackets. Notice that the wire or the clips, because they are made of metal, stay visible. The appearance is not always as discreet as what a patient can expect, mostly when it is necessary to use elastomeric chains<\/strong> during the treatment to close small interdental spaces.<\/p>\n

This patient shown on the left chose the QuicKlear\u00ae<\/sup> brackets<\/strong>. The esthetic benefit, if it exists, comes from the fact that the metal clip is narrower<\/strong> than the one of the In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> C bracket.<\/p>\n

American Orthodontics Empower\u2122<\/strong> bracket presents the same design as the Dentsply GAC In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> R bracket, because both companies have rights on the patent of the bracket.<\/p>\n

Ormco Nexus\u2122<\/strong> and Nexus Clear\u2122<\/strong> brackets are identical to the FORESTADENT\u00ae<\/sup> BioQuick\u00ae<\/sup> and QuicKlear\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong> brackets because Ormco concluded a trade deal with FORESTADENT\u00ae<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

The main difference between the QuicKlear\u00ae<\/sup> and In-Ovation\u00ae<\/sup> C brackets is the narrower metal clip<\/strong> which does not cover the whole width of the bracket.<\/p>\n

The picture on the right makes the comparison easier. The size of the ceramic base is comparable, but the metal clip is narrower.<\/p>\n

Let’s say it objectively<\/strong>, it is not better or worse<\/strong>. They are 2 different brackets<\/strong> that work<\/strong>, which have their benefits<\/strong> (being translucent) and their disadvantages<\/strong> (being bigger than a metal bracket).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
